Lift Us!

There are a people dispersed through the land
Whose ways are their own and who bow to no man
There are a people whose home has no border
Havaya is their sovereign, they follow no orders

Lift us! Above the hand of tyrants
Free us! From the power of kings

We've got no sovereign, king or redeemer,
Only the Source, the infinite One
We've got no sovereign, king or redeemer,
Only the All, the Breath of all Life

Lift us! Above the hand of tyrants
Free us! From the power of kings

The verses are taken from the Scroll of Esther, read on Purim, and the rest from the blessing after the Shma. It was inspired by the verse that translates to "Truth! You are the first and You are the last. Other than You, we have no sovereign, king, or redeemer." This verse was historically used by Jewish anarchist movements.
